This tutorial will review the extensive guidelines that have been added to the E/M Guidelines section regarding office and other outpatient services codes, including a table for medical decision making (MDM) that now applies to most E/M services codes. Extensive revisions and additions were made to the CPT coding guidelines, definitions, instructions, and supporting tables for office visits (99202 – 99215), outpatient consults (99242-99245), and prolonged services (99415-99417, 99358-99359).
